Do you have Yellow Fever? – CURE IT!

 

Yellow Fever is a contest to win one of 3 gigantic pill-shaped body pillows, each the size of a small child.  It’s a social media race to cure yourself of your ADDICTION/OBSESSION to attend an External Conference! Register for an External Conference this year, and win a cool pillow along the way!


Contest Rules

At each event we will be giving out FREE SWAG, aka our PLACEBOS (highlighters in the shape of pills and syringes!)–exciting eh? But NO. You want the REAL THING, the ULTIMATE PRIZE,  A PILL-OW.

Each batch of SWAG we give out at various events will contain a different QR code sticker.  Scan the code or ask any ExCo exec (if you don’t own a smart phone) to determine what the code word and social media task is.  The code word will change for each event, and you will be expected to include this word alongside your social media task to earn points!

Your task: is to tell us which External Conference you are most interested in attending.  The full list of conferences can be seen here: Medicine Cabinet.  The submission can either be done by

1) Tweet - To qualify, the tweet must also contain either “#exco” “@Cus_ExCo”
2) or by Facebook - To qualify, you must be a fan of our Facebook page.

Each entry must contain BOTH the code word and the social media task.

Ways to Earn Bonus Points (You can earn as many as you like):

  • First person to upload the code word per event round + 6
  • Upload a picture of yourself and a friend with ExCo Swag + 5
  • Upload a picture of yourself posing with an ExCo Exec + 2
  • Upload a picture of yourself posing with ExCo Swag + 1
  • Upload a video of yourself with ExCo Swag + 10
*No double-dipping pictures, but you may have multiple entries
In the end, the top 3 Sauderites with the most points will receive the grand prizes! YES, we will be keeping tallies! There are 3 PILL-OWs :) so an increased chance of winning!

Why Yellow Fever?

You talked, and we listened.  Over the past year we have been distributing customer satisfaction surveys and realized that we were giving Sauder students a GREAT product (you guys really love us!), but students wished they had heard about us earlier.  To remedy the problem, we’ve decided to incorporate a remedy-theme!

We are a fun-loving and keen, niche group of the Commerce Undergraduate Society that will help you subsidize your conference travels, so if you’re interested in what we have to offer, please drop a line!

What was the inspiration? How does this connect to ExCo?

All members of the ExCo team love to diversify our learning experiences outside of traditional means (ie. in the classroom) especially via conferences, so we thought, why not advertise in a non-traditional way? hence this guerilla marketing campaign.

On top of that, ExCo has monopolized the color yellow (Enterprize has blue, Me Inc. has orange etc.), so we deemed it appropriate–especially as we wish to build excitement around the service we are offering.  We also wanted an excuse to purchase syringe-shaped highlighters *jab jab*

Lastly, think of us ExCo execs as your doctors.  Tell us your symptoms–do you wish for more exposure to the advertising world? are you longing to network with wall street investment bankers? Tell us your symptoms and we’ll find you your cure, helping you discover which conference would be the ideal choice for you to attend and enrich your undergraduate learning experience with.
