What is EXCO?
EXCO (External Conferences) is an organization that allows students the opportunity to attend conferences outside of Vancouver for a 50% reimbursement of their Total Costs: Airfare, Housing Expenses, Delegate Fee, Transportation Costs*. EXCO supports Listed Conferences and Unlisted Conferences.

*The budget cap for transportation costs (taxi, bus, car, etc) for each person is $20 CAD.

Are there any membership fees to join EXCO?
No. There are no membership fees to be a part of EXCO.

What are Listed Conferences?
Listed Conferences are the conferences that you will find listed on the EXCO website. More specifically, the Term 1 and Term 2 Conferences Tab. To apply to Listed Conferences, complete and submit the Conferences Application Form in the “Apply Now!” tab.

What are Unlisted Conferences?
Unlisted Conferences are conferences that are not offered via the EXCO website. They are conferences that are discovered by the students that parallels their interest. Students wanting to go on Unlisted Conferences can also apply for a 50% reimbursement of their costs. Students can apply by complete and submitting the Unlisted Conferences Application Form in the “Apply Now!” tab.

Do I need to book the flight, register for the conference, and book the hotel (if necessary) myself?
Yes, the delegate will need to book their flight, register for the conference, and book their hotel themselves. That being said, make sure you KEEP YOUR RECEIPTS for reimbursement.  You must interview with us BEFORE leaving in order to qualify for this subsidy.

I have just arrived back from my conference. How do I get my reimbursement?
After you arrive back from your conference, be sure to complete the Feedback Form, and After Conference Task Form in the “Apply Now!” tab section. After completion, please submit them to Ken Chan and Carolyn Khoo. The e-mails are in the “About Us” section of the website.

As for the reimbursements, submit your receipts in one e-mail within 14 days after the conference to the VP Finance and Logistics at: ansleywong@gmail.com

What are the Reimbursement Caps for the conferences?
Canadian West-Coast (BC, AB, SK, YK) – $350 CAD
Canadian East-Coast (MB, ON, QC, PEI, NL, NB, NS) – $450 CAD
United States – $550 CAD
Global – $750 CAD
